Regenexx Australia

Nepean Specialist Sports Medicine

At Regenexx Australia, we offer nonsurgical alternatives for the treatment of shoulder pain and injuries.

Shoulder injuries can cause pain both with movement of the arms or when lying on your shoulder at night. Some injuries lead to a loss of movement, also known as “frozen shoulder”. If you have one of the shoulder conditions below, you may benefit from our treatment options.

Shoulder conditions treated

  • Rotator cuff tears
  • Rotator cuff tendinitis & tendinosis
  • Arthritis of the shoulder joint
  • Acromioclavicular (AC) Joint Injuries
  • Frozen shoulder

PRP for rotator cuff tears

Studies have shown that injections of PRP into partial rotator cuff tears reduced pain more effectively than cortisone when assessed 3 months later,[1] and lead to a reduction in pain and tear size when assessed 6 months later.[2]

Also, administering PRP in association with surgical rotator cuff repair significantly decreased patient’s pain at 1 week[3]and 1, 3, and 6 months post-surgery,[4] allowing for faster rehabilitation. There was also an 85% reduction in the rate of re-tears in large cuff tears 2 years after surgery.[4]

Prolotherapy for shoulder injuries

Some injuries about the shoulder are painful and slow to heal even though they do not affect movement or stability. Ultrasound guided prolotherapy has been shown to help with injuries to both the AC joint and strains of the deltoid where it attaches to the tip of the shoulder blade[5]
